Hope can make the difference between barely surviving tough times and thriving, even in adversity. It can allow a person to endure great things, while looking ahead with positive expectations for the future, even as the temptation for despair looms large over them. Hope, the precursor to faith, connects us with the living God in a way that hopelessness never can. It allows us to move ahead into the future with a sense of extraordinary hope, and a positive belief in what is to come ahead of us. It enables us to look for the good in ourselves and other people, rather than judging critically, and unfairly.
Hope may start as a single inspired thought, one that may be the catalyst to help you grow into full-blown faith in God's ability to love, counsel, guide, comfort, protect and save you in your time of need. Without hope, we are lost, as it serves as a compass to moving past difficult circumstances, physical pain and emotional hurt in this life.
A beacon of light, hope is ever ready to save you from the depths of failure and despair. Abundantly present in holy Scripture, the Word of God, hope is the bright source of relief for every anguished heart, the remedy for tepidity and indifference. For who can look ahead and not see God's healing, outstretched hands beckoning each longing soul to come closer?
Hope is aloe for fleeting hopelessness, a place we all visit, but dare not reside. And hope is a light to the winding cobblestone path of the hopeless mired in life's quagmire's. In the light of hope, faith looms larger than life as we pray for discernment, pray for healing and yes--abundant supply to meet our needs with confidence and anticipation.
When you place your hope in the Lord, it is never wasted. Rather, it becomes a steppingstone for the striving, a lamp for the faithful, and a resting spot to grow in faith with complete abandon.
