Jesus' Birth: Much to Celebrate!

What a blessed gift for all of humanity!!!

Clearly, everyone has a past, a present, and a future... No exceptions!!! Whatever hurts in your past are healed by Jesus' coming into the world for the asking. Need forgiveness to live in the present in peace? Just ask. Jesus awaits you and your request with open arms. For He is there for you and me with outstretched arms!

So pray about all things great and small, journal your prayers if you can, then watch and see how your life changes for the good--Miracles abound! Jesus is THE greatest hope this world has ever known...He will always be with you through thick and thin.

We have much to celebrate on the Eve of Jesus birth...If you haven't already, invite Him into your life today--right now-- and let this day be a new beginning for you and your loved ones!

Gratitude & Joy

 Gratitude & Joy. There is no quicker way to experiencing joy in this life than by 
praising our Triune God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-- in gratitude for all 
His profound and abundant blessings He has showered upon each of us. 
Praise Him for your successes AND your challenges, your home, your loved ones, family and co-workers alike...Praise Him for it all, because without the Lord we are nothing left on our own! 

Putting aside all worldly gifts, let this Christmas be one of extreme gratitude to God for His sublime generosity. He gave us life, people to love and care about us and people to love. God has given each of us unique gifts to share with the world, and successes when we use those gifts well. He is our great provider and lover of our souls--To be 'self-made' is but an illusion. 
For God has even given us His only Son, Jesus Christ, whom we celebrate this Christmas season and all the days of our lives, and subsequently, Salvation for those who believe in Him. Let this Christmas be truly special as you share Jesus with others and praise and celebrate His holy name as the Author of Life, Almighty Protector, Great Comforter, Supreme Counselor, Savior for all of humanity.
May you continue to praise His Holy Name through the coming year and experience a tremendous outpouring of joy that lasts far past the holiday season!

The Ripple Wave Effect of Prayer

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."                   2 Timothy 1:7

 As the Christmas season is upon us, we realize that there are some among us who struggle as they grieve for their loved ones, and are unable to feel the joy of the Christmas season. For some, even the sound of Christmas music can be a source of heartache. But consider this...

I don't know about you, but there are days when I need to be reminded of this holy Scripture passage. Days when sadness comes or difficult situations arise, it is easy to put aside my faith and forget to pray first in all things. During these times, my own thinking presents seemingly insurmountable obstacles to embracing the great gift of faith that comes through prayer. It is during those times that I flounder in my own thoughts and find it hard to lift my own spirits...

Yet, by the grace of God, for the glory of God, something or someone will remind me to pray--And prayer swiftly launches me to a much better place. In terms of prayer, I find that praise and gratitude to God are predictably the antidote to every negativity, sadness, anxiety and fear. For what darkness can possibly stand up against the power found in a grateful heart, betrothed to our Lord?

So go on--Take a minute now and pray for someone who is down or grieving this Christmas season. If you can, call, send a card or visit and pray together.  Your efforts and prayers will go a long way to help lift their spirits and lead them back to a heart full of gratitude to Our Lord, "the real reason for the season!" For what better gift can any of us possibly give than kindness and prayer to those in need? It will strengthen your faith and theirs this holiday season, as kindness is always mutually beneficial,and has a ripple wave effect.

Discernment & The Dialogue of Prayer

Psalm 32:8
"The Lord says, “I will teach you the way you should go; I will instruct you and advise you."'

Discernment. Today's Scripture passage is all about God's promise for discernment--learning what God's plan is for us in every circumstance. It is about the dialogue of prayer. That's right. Prayer is not a monologue, it is a dialogue with God. For when we pray, we either praise God and thank him for all the abundant blessings He so generously provides, we request what is needed in prayer for ourselves or others, we ask forgiveness, or we simply sit quietly in prayer.

Through prayer, we are able to discern truth and seek the Lord in earnest, even in the 'truth famine' we live in today where even truth in news reporting seems to be a rare commodity. We are able to transcend pain and suffering, infirmity, disability, poverty, grief, broken relationships, loneliness, depression and anxiety, diminish fear, and hop over seemingly impossible life obstacles. 

Medical research shows there are also significant physiological changes during prayer... And prayer has been found to be very healing. In fact, some studies have found that people who pray or have others praying for them (Intercessory prayer) heal much faster after surgery!

Eloquent speech is not required to pray to God. Just an open heart and belief in our Triune God--Father, Son and Holy Spirit!  If you ask for direction and counsel in your life, the Lord will show up and teach you the way you should go, instruct you and guide you along your way.

If it is Good, It is From the Lord

"I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me."

Thanksgiving has arrived, for most, bringing great memories of roast turkey, pumpkin pie and all the rest from this special day in years past. With the traditional fire in the fireplace, and holiday songs playing via Pandora, it can all seem so picturesque for so many. In fact, we even had flurries this afternoon!

This year, this season of gratitude, for me, translates into one of remembering amazing and abundant blessings and awe provided by God to my family and friends and me, and the world, through the unparalled generosity of God.

For beyond the rekindling of warm relationships, and festive spreads, I know with all my heart this Thanksgiving that God has provided every good thing for you and for me and our loved ones. 
 
If it is good, peace-filled, and life-giving, you can trust with confidence that it is from the Lord.

All that I am, all that I have, all that I am able to do belongs to the Lord! Hallelujah! In this way, even  my contracturing, withering hands, my intermittently blurred vision, and being on a bipap respirator 14+ hours per day cannot detour the privilege to sing Jesus' praises in print. For it is all blessing~ nothing short of a blessed gift from above! 
 
My heart leaps with joy at the very thought of all that Jesus has done for me and my loved ones, and all He is doing in my life. And I am at peace, with the sublime joy of gratitude, this cold, wintery night, this Thanksgiving Eve...

Embracing Your Religious Freedom

"It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known...21 Rather, as it is written: “Those who were not told about him will see and those who have not heard will understand.'" Romans 15:20-21

Some things are meant to keep to oneself, while others in this life are meant to be be shared, and faith is one of them. For what good is it to keep the kindness and mercy of God to yourself--even(and especially) for the sake of political correctness? 

Presently, we live in a country where it's still OK to share your Christian (or other) faith openly. There is nothing stopping us from attending Church weekly (even daily for some), Bible reading, and sharing the Bible messages, the Gospels with others. Yet, do we take our eroding freedom of religion for granted in the US? 

In the US and around the world, we are undergoing great change in the area of Constitutional Rights, particularly Religious Freedoms for Christians. It has been observed that Christian rights are becoming passe, facing extinction. Merry Christmas has been publicly  'outlawed' in exchange for 'Happy Holidays.' In God we trust has been removed by our president this week in the Gettysburg Address. Public venues that included the 10 Commandments are being removed. And the list goes on and on. The president is even considering removing 'In God we trust' from our currency. The list goes on...

Christianity is meant to be shared.  The big question here is a personal one:  
What will you doing today to exercise your religious freedom and on a daily basis while we still have religious freedom in this country?
  
If you will, take a quick minute to develop your own faith plan. Will you read the Bible with regularity or a daily devotional? Will you invite a neighbor or friend to Church with you on Thanksgiving, Christmas, or on upcoming Sundays? Will you share this devotional blog or write one of your own to get the word out about Christianity? Reach out to others in need?

Each day is a new opportunity to sing the praises of God. Let today be a new beginning as you grow in appreciation for and savor the privilege of your own religious freedom!

"Israel: I Have Chosen You"


Have you ever wondered why Israel is so important? Well, one of the greatest Bible promises of all times involves 'little' Israel. As unprecedented global turbulence escalates, and intense Judeo-Christian persecution rises around the world with Iran threatening to destroy Israel with nuclear arms, today's Scripture is proof that Israel is truly precious in the eyes of God. For "those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all." ...

 Isaiah 41:8-14
“But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,
I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.10  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. Forging Ahead

"I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret 
of being content in any and every situation..."   
Philippians  4:10-12

In the course of daily life, we all occasionally find ourselves in challenging circumstances that present us with blessed growth opportunities. Whenever we are inconvenienced by health issues, when relationships become difficult, or when work worries prevail, it is often easy to succomb to negativity, depression, and, even despair. Yet in today's Scripture, Paul tells us he has 'learned to be content, whatever the circumstances.' So how can that possibly be???

I suspect that the Apostle Paul came to understand that contentment is a choice. It is a willful decision to forge ahead, despite being presented with unsavory, unyielding, even uncomfortable circumstances. Yet believing Christians know well, 'this, too shall pass...'

For me, contentment predictably comes when I am able to get my focus off of my self, my own situation, issues and pain, my own lacking, and squarely focus on Jesus Christ. The Great Healer, Blessed Comforter. Supreme Protector. Unconditional Lover of your soul and mine. 

For when you put aside every distraction that comes your way, and discontent is truly a distraction, and consciously focus on the majesty of Jesus, everything else pales in comparison to His saving power. Ask Him for whatever you need, and He will change your lot in His own special time and way!

Personally, I see my life as a series of miracles--A miracle in progress. Jesus has brought me up from the pit of childhood trauma, poverty, long-term infirmity and disability, and the travesty of despair. He has blessed me with all that I have, and provided for all that I need. He has surrounded me with great family and friends--people of great integrity and faith-- for companionship along this journey; and the result is strong faith in Him, contentment, compassion for others, and a grateful heart, which surely are as healing aloe for every situation in this waiting room we call life. / amg

When you seek Me you will find Me, and I will change your lot!

"Hate what is evil; cling to what is good."  Romans 12:9

 I don't know about you, but sometimes when I listen to the daily news, read the newspaper or read online news, I can feel my blood pressure rising as I am acutely concerned for our country right now. It seems as if the US and the global community are swiftly spinning out of control in untoward new directions, and I find myself wondering where it will all end.

However, rather than worry, I find myself praying even more often than usual, and reading my Bible whenever I can, looking for guidance. Some say the Bible is irrelevant, archaic, and passe. However, I believe that praying and reading Scripture daily is like putting on the armor of Christ to obtain discernment, counsel, direction, protection, and comfort to prepare for every circumstance.

Through the eyes of faith, Scripture gently brings us back and reminds me that the world is not beyond God's omnipotence and watchful eye. It never has been, and it never will be. In fact, it seems that God has great plans in motion for the inhabitants of this world. "Thus says the Lord: I have great plans for you to prosper, not for woe!...When you seek Me you will find Me, and I will change your lot! " Jeremiah 29:11-13.  For sure, nothing is beyond His view, nor is He fooled one minute by those who seek to deceive and derail the sincere and innocents who seek Him in earnest.

These days, rather than worry, I find myself praying even more often than usual, and reading my Bible whenever I can looking for answers. For me, I truly believe reading Scripture daily is like putting on the armor of Christ for protection, comfort, and discernment in every circumstance.

For the Bible tells us that those who follow God's 10 Commandments, and bear witness to Jesus Christ are set aside, preserved and precious in the sight of God, they have great reason to praise and celebrate His Holy Name, even in these tumultuous times. Actually, through the Holy Bible, He has provided very specific Bible instructions, and practical advice for the well-being of His people:

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."  John 14:27

[ Persecutions Predicted ] “Look, I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as serpents and as harmless as doves."   Matthew 10:16

 "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God."  I Corinthians 1:18

"I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture."  John 10:9

"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:16

Time For Great Anticipation!



'The seventh angel blew his trumpet. There were loud voices in Heaven saying: "The kingdom of the world now belongs to our Lord and to His Anointed, and He will reign for ever and ever.” 16 And the twenty-four elders, who sat on their thrones before God prostrated themselves and worshiped God, 17 and said, “We give thanks to You, Lord God Almighty, Who are and Who were. For You have assumed Your great power, and have established Your reign."'   
Revelation 11:15  [NIV]

In as much as the Book of Ecclesiastes tell us "There is a time for every purpose under Heaven," today's Scripture reminds us that Believers have great reason to rejoice, even in, and especially through, these tumultuous, difficult times!

For in the chronology found in the Book of Revelations, especially from Chapter 11 on, it is clear that God guides, counsels, protects and comforts all who love Him and follow His commands. Even as this world shows increasing signs of it's passage into sublime darkness, and Christianity is ever more marginalized in this world, Believers are lifted up by our loving God as He sets us apart as His own. 

Here, today, we learn that God has 'stepped in,' and is fully in control in this world; and along that path, worry and fear about this passing world dissipate, are replaced with peace, joy, and great anticipation for what is to come. For there is no person, force or principality on earth greater than our loving, Living God. Heavenly Father of all, He is the Alpha and the Omega...In Him, there is no darkness at all; and His Light is truly a beacon for humanity for those who desire His unconditional love, seek Him in earnest, and follow His commands.

In the name of Jesus, I praise You on high for all You have done, are doing right now, and preparing to do, to prepare the way for what is to come. My soul leaps for joy at the sound of Your Holy Name, and I claim your guidance, counsel, love, protection and comfort again this day! Amen!/ amg

Revealing Revelations

9 "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."   Romans 10:9 / NIV

In a way, it is hard to look around us today, and not be reminded of Revelation 13, and Revelation 18, found in the last few pages of the Bible, as these are extremely tumultuous times. Wherever would Christians be without the Bible and Eternal faith in Our Lord, Jesus Christ?

The US government is [hopefully temporarily] shutdown with even public places on lock down/lock out from visitors at such places as the World War II Memorial and the White House. Healthcare is being compromised on the horizon by the unwelcome insertion of a 'new ideology' including health care rationing, death panels in some states, and major breeches of medical confidentiality. America is incredibly in debt to other countries, like China, beyond comparison of any other time in history. In fact, with no end in sight,  our economy appears to be on the brink of disaster. Long established and historical laws and policies are being ignored, and there is absolute mayhem in Congress, as even The Constitution and the 10 Commandments are harshly debated and minimized and overridden. One must only watch the news to see that violence is rampant in our nation, the American family is becoming passe, and being replaced by "alternative lifestyles" in opposition to Biblical teaching. Nuclear and chemical terrorist threats abound, and life as we have known it may soon be a cherished memory.


Good News!

Oddly enough, for Christians, the present, and the future, are rather bright. Though we wade through all the same worldly chaos that surrounds us all, we hold on to Jesus promises: "I Am The Way, The Truth, and The Life...No one goes to the Father but through Me," we know that Jesus Christ is the key to enduring this life, while anticipating the next, also known as Eternal Life.


Despite challenging and difficult circumstances, believing Christians are privileged to look ahead through the God given gift of eyes of faith and Scripture. As "The Lord is my strength!" [Nehemiah] echoes in  the souls of believers all over the world, confident in their salvation, there are yet 2 other songs that ring out... "Prepare Thee the Way of the Lord!" and "Amazing Grace." The grace of the Lord really is amazing and awe-inspiring, especially from the first hour a lost soul believes! Fear or Faith...The choice is yours and mine alone. But the two can not coexist...

"Tend the Flock in Your Midst" I Peter 5:2-10

2 "Tend the flock of God in your midst ... 3 Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples to the flock... So humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; 7 Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you."  Be sober, and vigilant.  Your opponent, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings. I Peter 5:2-9

Sometimes it is tempting to think that only a minister or priest can lead a flock. However, the beauty and simplicity of this Scripture today tells us all to "Tend the flock in your midst." Take a minute and look around you at the people you encounter each and every day.  Family, Friends. Co-workers. Acquaintances. Church members. Neighbors. According to this Bible passage, we are to help them all as we are able. In reality, it would probably be easier to tend to your flock if they were all distant strangers rather than close friends and especially, family! However, this passage tells us that we are all called to lead by example, cast our cares on the Lord, and trust He will give us all we need to care for those around us.

So go on--Carefully look around you this day and see where your flock rests. Jesus Christ Himself will help you as you tend to the needs of those right around you who are weary or burdened. Do you see your brother in need--hungry, thirsty or in need of clothing? Can you make yourself available to listen to a friend with a broken heart? Is there someone around you in dire need of prayer? And ask yourself this: Am I willing to become an encourager for Christ? For the power of encouragement is profound and blessed, both for the one encouraging, and the one on the receiving end...

The God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory through Christ,will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little. To Him be dominion forever. Amen." I Peter 5:10

Abundant Supply

"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, ..."
"That He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:3-6
 When God begins a good work in you and you come to embrace it, it becomes mission, and He will see it through to completion. Despite infirmity, disability, poverty, lack of confidence... He will give you abundant supply, strength, wisdom, courage, and everything you need to complete His work and more! To accomplish His work, The Lord will go before you to prepare the way by changing hearts and minds and removing any unnecessary obstacles, including those self-imposed. Ever-patient with our imperfections, He is able to anticipate our every need in advance and provide all that is needed to succeed.
Side by side the Lord walks with you to support you, heal you, guide you, comfort you, protect you.  He will accompany you, as you go about bringing the mission He has instilled in you to fruition. He will even go behind you to pick up any virtual debris that has fallen along the side of the mission pathway in which you walk. In His Almighty Omnipotent presence, the Lord is ever present, and you are never left alone to fend for yourself. He is the Eternal, great provider for all who call upon the name of Jesus!

Eradicating Worry

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear...But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself." Matthew 6:25-34

Since my youth, I have been a world-class worrier. What did I worry about? I worried about everything! My family, work, finances, relationships, what other people thought of me... Worry, worry, worry. But then, something blessed happened in my life to dispel this intrusive, ongoing anxiety, and now I feel free to live my life according to God's plan rather than my own...I learned that fear and faith in God cannot coexist, and that faith always wins out!

Some years ago, I started to grow in my faith in Jesus, and worry eventually seemed to fade when compared with the love of GOD. Yes, worry still is an occasional, unwelcome part of my life, a bad habit, if you will, but a much smaller part of my thinking. Today, I am able to focus more on Jesus, less on myself, and many of my prior worldly burdens seem to have gone by the wayside. How? Well, I began consciously trying to pray more with confidence, and worry less, and, simply began trusting that my prayers would be answered and that God would 'show up' whenever I needed Him.

You see, when you lay your life in God's hands, you are free to go where He sends you, and are released from the bondage of pleasing other people. By so doing, you are free to live and speak and write and serve with renewed clarity and purpose in the Lord. Even in the face of negativity and judgement by others, you are able to stay focused on Jesus, and press on, and in, unscathed, while pursuing a life of truth, loving service and holy boldness. /

Soothing Comfort for Your Soul

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you."    Psalm 32:8

Today's reading is not simply a passage from the Bible; rather, it is God's promise for the generations, and no one is exempt!

Each and every day, we have various issues that arise and decisions great and small to make in our life. Should we take that new job, or remain at the job we have held for many years. How should we deal with that certain person in our life that is difficult to love? Parenting issues. Financial concerns. Sometimes it seems that life is just a series of decisions that need to be made!

Yet, beyond all these worldly issues, concerns, and dilemma's in your life and mine, Jesus stands in wait to instruct us, teach us, counsel us, and watch over us all, as no one else can. Connecting to Him is as simple as opening your Bible, or quietly speaking His holy name in prayer. Some find the Lord's presence in a rolling beach surf, beautiful sunset or a steep mountain trail. If you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him, and He will help you!

The important thing is to recognize that Jesus is available, for you and me, in all His glory,  at every turn in the road. Seek Him often, seek him now. For there is no better guidance and counsel, no greater healer, no more soothing comfort, and better protection beyond the Lord to help you meet whatever you face in this world. You are not alone!

"What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light"

"What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the rooftops."  Matthew 10:27

The Lord speaks to all of us--not just a few-- in His own special way that we each can understand. At times, He may speak His truth through other people. At other times, He may speak in other ways such as a warm, peaceful feeling, strong intuition, an active conscience, or one may experience repeating lyrics to a song in their head.  Through faith-filled prayer comes blessings of courage to embrace, speak out and live out God's truth with confidence in word, deed and song.

In this life, we are ever connected to God, our Creator, in a myriad of blessed ways. Often times in the Bible it is written, "Be not afraid!...You are never alone!" Truly, Our Dear Lord is with us to help us discern His Divine Will, to instruct and guide us, to heal us, to protect us, to comfort us... to save us even from ourselves. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Great Connector, God has made every accommodation for us in this life, as He even sent His Only Son, our Savior, Jesus, to us to help us at every turn.

You know that situation you have that is such a burden for You?  You know that broken relationship that is tearing You apart inside? Perhaps it's time to let it all go and embrace the Greatest Hope the world has ever known with both arms. "I Am The Way" John 14:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to 
the Father except through me." John 14:6

In today's Bible passage, Jesus tells us that He IS 'The Way' to reach God, the 
Father. There are no shortcuts to reaching God. For Christians, there really is 
no other way to reach God in all His glory, but through Jesus Christ. Biblically,
we are not only called to trust and believe in God, we are also called to follow
His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ--and to try our best to love and emulate Him, 
despite all our own personal imperfections. Thus, Jesus is The Way, the absolute 
Truth, and The Life we should strive to live.

Throughout the Old & New Testament of the Bible, we learn of the coming Messiah--
Who He is, and what He will do for mankind for the sake of Salvation of the world. 
John 3:16 >>>"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, so 
that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life!" 

By Jesus' example, we are shown how to live, in practical ways, in and through Him,
by always striving to put God first, and loving others with all our strength, to 
the best of our ability. Forgiving the unforgivable. Reaching out to feed and help 
the poor, and praying for those in most need...Even, and especially our foes.

For the Bible says >>> Matthew 5:10-12 "Blessed are you when they insult you and 
persecute you, and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of Me
[Jesus]. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven..."

The Secret

 "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength."  Philippians 4:12-13

Deep contentment is generally found when we step away from all of the expectations of others, and the fog of mayhem that permeates this world, to see the saving hand of a loving God working in your daily life as only He can! Contentment is found in the simplicity of a grateful heart embracing blessings received with a clear understanding that Jesus is in control, and that the grace of God is sufficient for you in every circumstance.

Yes, when you come to truly believe that the Lord is with you, working tirelessly on your behalf and paving the way in every situation, burdens great and small seem to fade and fall by the wayside. You are more able to care for the plight of others in most need, and reach out to others in new ways. As your life focus changes from self to God, you are transformed like never before in thought and deed for all the world to see. Even in need, you will reap the benefits of feeling blest!


May you be profoundly blest this day with deep contentment in Jesus Christ, 
and reap the many blessings He holds for you this day!

The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength!

"The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

 Recently, I met an amazing, very talented, young musician. From his awesome stage persona to his heartfelt, upbeat musical lyrics to his personal conversations, everything about him seemed joyous, and I knew right away that the joy of the Lord was his strength.

There is a big difference between happiness and joy. Sure, all of us have seen and experienced happiness in our lives in so many ways. Have you ever personally experienced or met someone who has contagious joy like my new friend? If you have, you will never forget the experience...

Happiness is most often a fleeting, personal experience you have when you celebrate an event, revel in a new relationship, or experience something enjoyable. By all accounts, happiness is a temporary state. Joy, however, though similar, is more lasting, and enduring, and is a deep rooted faith experience. To the naked eye, the two seem to be very similar, but consider this truth: The joy of the Lord is your strength. 

Joy beckons you to put aside all judgement of others, all heavy burdens, all skepticism, all hesitation in which way you should go, replacing it with a childlike trust that all is well, and belief that God is in control. It allows you to fully experience sunrises and sunsets with complete abandon, and awe in God's creation.With joy, patience and persistence, blessed discernment is often revealed that is able to swiftly simplify issues with unsurpassed clarity. With joy comes the understanding that there is strength in weakness, and weakness in strength...Best of all, with discernment, a fruit of joy, comes extraordinary trust, and strength in the Lord, in all things!

Beating All the Odds

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Life is full of surprises, unpredictable,and can, sometimes, even be overwhelming. Yet when your inner foundation is in Jesus Christ, the waves of the ocean of life will ebb and tide, but there is nothing to fear, as he carries you safely on His shoulders through uncharted waters.

Like you, when I am "prayed up," steeped in prayer, and striving with peace in my soul and with Jesus close at my side, I am confident like no other time. I can see the positive possibilities and envision beating all worldly odds. I can take tough medical news, and face the future with peace in my heart, with sublime confidence that all is well.

By the grace of God, Jesus gives each of us the necessary strength to figuratively hop hurdles of 'what ifs' and hike mountains of fear to reach to the heights to proclaim the Lord's Good News for the glory of God in word and print. All the while feeling ever so blest, while walking in His Light, it is possible to envision healing in my mind for myself and others, to pray for those in most need of His love and mercy. And that would be all of us!!!

For when you believe that your strength comes from Jesus, and that He is with you until the end of time, your life is never again the same... Infirmity is but a passing annoyance, and life's difficulties fade in comparison with His great love! / amg

Getting Rid of Heavy Burdens

 Hebrews 12:1-4

"Brothers and sisters: Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith."

Let's face it...This life has many ups and downs, twists and turns, storms and burdens, and we are truly limited by our own human imperfections. In a way, we were designed to need God's help in life. For those who keep their eyes on Jesus, there is blessed relief from the day to day happenings that can so easily rock our world. In fact, the closer you become to Jesus, the more empowered you are to easily hop over the hurdles that surround you and those that await you... It's true!
 
Getting closer to Jesus is easier than human relationships, and is a matter of choice...It starts with a powerful, prayerful decision to live a blessed new life, leaving behind your old life . 
 
So go on...Say a quiet prayer and ask Jesus to come into your life today. Let your prayers and subsequent actions bring you closer to Him. Go to The Lord's house on Sunday, help His flock by being there for someone in need, feed and/or clothe the poor, take time to listen to someone hurting with a heavy heart... Guaranteed, if you move closer to Jesus, He will move closer to you, and your life will never be the same!

Dear Lord, 
I pray for all who read this today, may they embrace new life in You, and be profoundly blest with Your unconditional love and an unquenchable hunger and thirst for You! May they receive Your Holy Spirit and become a lighthouse, a beacon of light, lovingly leading others to you You and your flock.

He Helps Me

 "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me."   

 There is a beautiful simplicity in today's Scripture passage that is, at the same time, both calming and compelling. After all, who does not like someone that can be depended upon when needed, who helps them when life gets difficult? 

As Christians, we understand that Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit--strengthens and protects all who call upon His Holy Name, like no one else can. For Jesus is The Way, The Truth and the Life, that goes before you to pave the way for you when needed. He goes behind you and has your back in every circumstance. Best of all, He walks beside you, shoulder to shoulder, as your Savior, your closest Confidant, your Advisor, Protector, Comforter, Guide.

But remember this...It all hinges on trusting Him and believing that He has a Divine Plan for your life, because He does! You see, beyond the physical pain and discomfort of infirmity and disability--Beyond broken hearts and relationships on the brink--Beyond the isolation and sadness that can accompany mental illness-- Jesus is there, ever ready to help ease your pain and suffering, to lift you to higher ground, to protect you from all harm... He is there for Y-o-u!

Like any relationship, a relationship with Jesus Christ is all about trust. Probably one of the easiest ways to begin your new relationship with Jesus is to pray this simple life-changing prayer: "Jesus I trust in You!" Repeat it until you begin to feel deep inner peace in your soul; then watch your life begin to change and blossom in blessed ways. You will become less anxious as your fears fade  away; more loving and peace-filled. I promise!

May you be profoundly blest with trust in Jesus, and subsequently, 
healing, hope, peace and joy this day. Amen!

Sublime Confidence

"If you proclaim with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him 
from the dead, you will be saved."  Romans 10:9

Clearly, faith is a process, a work in progress throughout one's life. My early faith was initially born by attending Catholic Church weekly on Sundays with my mother and my 2 siblings. Yet, my faith really did not come alive and take root until decades later in my life. Well there's a reason for that ...

There is a big, though sometimes subtle, difference between practicing a religion and having a believing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As anyone who knows me can tell you, I am a shameless promoter of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. I pray throughout the day and night and ask for help for many that the Lord lays on my heart, with sublime confidence. The Lord responds by answering these prayers PROFOUNDLY in His own special time and way. In fact, I have seen the Lord answer so many prayers relating to physical and mental health health, employment, relationships, etc..., in so many blessed, countless ways for so many people, I am completely in awe and overwhelmed by His generosity on a daily basis. In response, I find it privilege to continually come back in prayer often, to thank and praise Him for blessings received, regardless of whatever outcome transpires; and the blessings continue to sprout, blossom, and surprise for all involved...Including me!

When you say the above Scripture out loud, you are essentially saying to the Lord that you believe in  Him, and lay your life in His hands, which, according to the Bible, is His greatest desire. Try it, and you will just be amazed at the likes of your new life! Soon you will see His loving, healing hands all over your life and those you pray for, as you embark on a new, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Similar to the song, "You Are Mine," your heart will soar as you revel in His Light, as you begin to hunger and thirst for Him in your life!!! I promise!!!  /

I don't know about you, but sometimes when I feel weak in body, mind, and spirit, overwhelmed by the challenges in this life, I often turn to prayer and Scripture for help. Though written some 2000 years ago, reading the Holy Bible just seems to airlift me to higher ground, to a place where I experience almost immediate peace, rejuvenation, comfort, healing, and discernment of God's will for me in any situation. In ministry, talking with friends, and even on days like today when I go to the Medical Center for treatment, I find myself with Bible in tow and turning it often, and feel lost without it...'Guess that explains why I generally carry my Bible with me in my 'rolling office!"

 So why is the Bible so important? Well, for starters, it is the inspired,timeless living Word of God for all times~ a beacon, a lighthouse to those who believe in Jesus Christ. It teaches us how to try to live a blessed -good life by following Jesus Christ, and it is the unparallelled bridge between Christianity and Judaism. Here are some of my favorite Scriptures to reflect on and to share: 
 
“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:25

“Give thanks to the Lord, who is good, whose love endures forever.”  Psalm 118:1

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”  Nehemiah 8:10

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”  Psalm 37:3-4

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.”  Psalm 28:7



“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…”  Romans 8:28

"Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal..."                                                                       Philippians 3:13-14

Clearly, it's all about forging ahead in anticipation of God's grace. Grace cannot be earned, rather it is unwarranted merit freely given by our loving God. We must simply be press in and press on, even and ecspecially in times of adversity,  be open to receive all of God's wondrous blessings each day, and give gratitude where gratitude is due.

For me, rather than worrying about things, I try my level best to place situations, and people in my life, in the hands of the Almighty... and not take them back and place them on my worry list. I have learned to pray confidently for myself and others with great anticipation that the Lord will show up and act to make things the way they are meant to be. In that way, there are no coincidences in my world, and I am able to look for silver linings great and small along the way that provide evidence for me that the Lord is present and involved.

Yes, sometimes it is a challenge to keep moving forward when feeling bogged down by the past or when not feeling well. Yet, somehow, we must muster all the self control we can to avoid living in the past and start living in hopeful anticipation of what God will do next in our lives. 

If I can focus more on Jesus than on myself, and the fact that I have waited 30+ years for a full healing, it is a declaration of faith and hope in Jesus. 

I often have to remind myself that yesterday is over. Today is what matters most in the eyes of God. And when we are able to embrace that, the Lord can do His finest work in our lives!

Embracing the Healing That Awaits You

Psalm 40:9-11 /   New International Version (NIV)

I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know. 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly. 11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord; may your love and faithfulness always protect me."

Day after day I read my Bible looking for the right Scripture to share here on this blog on any given day. Some days I am looking for comfort to share with hurting souls, or even myself; other days, I am compelled to write about gratitude and blessings. Sometimes I can go for several days or a week without posting a single devotional blog post, just waiting for that one timely Bible passage that resonates in my soul; that Scripture that will glorify God in the most beneficial way possible. And today was no different, as this Scripture beckoned me to embrace and share its meaning with my readers.

Recently, I announced here that I am believing that God is giving me a healing miracle. Despite the obvious fact that right now I am once again out of remission and in the midst of another exacerbation, my belief in receiving a miraculous healing has not changed. I truly believe that this is simply a miracle in progress... I am on the installment plan!

The Lord has been so gentle, kind, merciful and ever-present with me in my life, how can I do anything but feel gratitude to Him and exult Him on high in print??? Even as I write this now, my speech today is extremely garbled and difficult to understand from this disease, yet God has instilled in me a heart of gratitude for blessings. In sickness and in health, I can see the Lord's workings in my life, as He has always provided for my every need! Now that's healing! 

I am grateful for the bipap machine that keeps me out of the hospital, and for the walker that helps me keep rolling. I am grateful for the IVIG treatments that I receive every 3 months, and the fact that I have insurance to cover the $30,000 per round of treatments. I am grateful for the family and friends who pull close around me when I am not well, to help when things get tough, especially my loving husband; and for the fact that I even have remissions at all. I am grateful, too for your prayers that are so uplifting for me, as I am certain that prayer changes things...Ultimately, in my mind, God has provided it all, and for that, I am eternally grateful! / Adele M. Your Choice...

"I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on Your laws."  Psalm 119:30

As this Bible passage indicates, faithfulness to God, through Jesus Christ, really is a choice with the most amazing, life-giving benefits...Actually it is the greatest choice anyone can make in this life...

When you choose faithfulness to God above all else, you are free, and commissioned to love both the unloved and the unlovable with great fervor. You are free to let go of your heart ache and tend to someone else's broken heart as you stand up for, and with the unborn, the poor, the sick, the elderly, the down trodden, and the oppressed. What privilege!

For believing Christians, the term "Pro-choice" is simply a sound byte, a political moniker; an oppressive, unfortunate misnomer. Faithful Christians are called to choose God's greatest gift, human life, in all its forms, from the cradle to the grave, even over circumstance or convenience. The world will tell you this is not so; however, biblical truth stands with those who do everything in their power to support human life, particularly the defenseless unborn, as evidenced in the Sermon on the Mount/The Beatitudes.

When you make the decision to choose faithfulness to Almighty God, there is so much He can and will do for you as He is The Great Healer, The Gentle Comforter and Precious Consoler, the Omnipotent Protector, the Magnificent Counselor. He will bless you profoundly with His unconditional love and grace, and lead you to higher ground in any and every circumstance. He will send the Holy Spirit to guide you and guard you as only He can all the days of your life.

Yes, faithfulness really is a choice. If today you hear His voice, harden not your heart!/Adele M. Gill

"I Will Instruct You and Show You the Way..."

                                  "I will instruct you and show you the way you should walk, 
                                         give you counsel and watch over you." Psalm 32:8

When I pray for God's discernment, the Lord instills in me his clear instructions in a way I can understand, and He will do the same for you and for all who revere Him, if you simply quiet yourself in prayer.

The Lord's leading is ever trustworthy, and always for the good of His people. Never intrusive, His leading is unmistakable, as it renders you closer and closer to the accomplishment of His holiness, His divine plan for y-o-u.

"I have great plans for you," says the Lord. "Plans to prosper, not for woe!" > Jeremiah 29:11-13

Call it a feeling in your gut, intuition, a knowing...The Lord instills his guidance in us all if we simply quiet ourselves in prayer. Many believing Christians find that reading Holy Scripture, the Word of God, swiftly and effectively brings them to the answers they seek. For the Word of God does not return void, but rather bears much fruit.

The Road to Discernment
Take a few minutes today and close the door to your room for a quick prayer. Breathe deeply and praise Jesus for all His mighty blessings. Pray, "Jesus I trust in You!" Thank Him for your family, friends, co-workers, even those you do not love as you would like to. Imagine yourself breathing in God's blessings. Now wait and see what transpires. Do you feel peaceful? Great! That amazing, peaceful feeling is a sign that the Holy Spirit is with you. Still feel turbulent or anxious inside? Breathe deeply and continue to praise the Lord.

Praise is the key that unlocks the feeling of God's love, and the outpouring of the blessed discernment that follows.  Soon contentment and peace will wash over you from head to toe, as you place your trust in the Lord. As you continue on, ask Jesus, through confident prayer, for whatever you need, fully knowing that He will provide you with all the abundant supply, discernment, counsel and direction you need.

May Our Dear Lord provide you with all that you need this day!

I called to you for help, and you healed me."

"LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me." Psalms 30:2 (NIV)

 It is vitally important to thank God for his kindness and mercy everyday, no matter what transpires. In His perfect way, only He knows the day or the hour that you will be healed. As a Christian, I am fully confident that I will receive a full healing one day, and in the meanwhile, I trust His extraordinary timing. Though again, I pray it is today, I squarely place my life in Jesus' hands with great joy and anticipation.


When you ask the Lord for healing in earnest prayer, Jesus, the Great Healer, the Awesome Comforter will alleviate your pain, suffering, and infirmity in His own special way and time. Like no one else, He is there for you, standing in wait to work all things out for you and the good of many.

In my own case, I am extremely encouraged by this truth, as I have waited for 30+ years for a full healing in body, mind and spirit. I have had wonderful times of great healing that have allowed me to do much for the Lord, the center of my hearts desire. However, it is, and has been, an ongoing miracle in progress.

Day after day, I have asked for a full healing, and been in awe of Jesus' merciful plan for my life that now seems to be unfolding. And now I notice that remission has been extended by 5weeks, and my hope soars, as it has been 4 1/2 months since my last IVIG hospital treatment. By the grace of God, for the glory of God, will you join me in prayer saying, Hallellujah?

Unlike most blog days, I am asking you now for prayer. Will you join me in prayer for this evolving miracle?

Simplicity & Faith

"Get Up and stand on your feet! I have appeared to you to appoint you as servant and witness to what you have seen and will see of me...

 17 I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’" Acts 26:16-18

Today's Scripture invites us to seek out and fervently embrace opportunities to share God's love with all we meet and to spread the 'Good News' of the Gospels wherever are, wherever we go. This passage is certainly a call to action in every way. In it, we are called to serve God and others, and to give witness about the Lord whenever possible.

I particularly love this Scripture because it tells us exactly what our role is as followers of Jesus Christ, as we are called to be servants and give witness. How simple is that? Well, consider this...
The truth is, not everyone is meant to stand up at a pulpit or on a street corner and preach to the masses.  In fact, most of us have a quieter, more subtle calling, to love those around us unconditionally and to share Jesus with them.

Through ministry, I have noticed that some of the most gifted, compassionate, Christian witnesses come from people living in poverty. In fact, some of them even live in the nearby woods and have done so for years. Outwardly, they seemingly have little, but they are true powerhouses for the Lord! Somehow, truly by the grace of God, these courageous people have joy, and peace, even in, and despite, their harrowing circumstances; and I feel eternally blest just to be in their company!

Faith is not dependent on riches, worldly success, being a Bible scholar, or holding a high position in a company. It's more about doing the best you have with what you have, right where you are in this life, and sharing the love of Christ with all you meet.

May the Holy Spirit fill you with fervor, peace and grace, and may  the Light of Jesus within you shine wherever you go!
